RedLine Traveler Mandolin, # 114

This mandolin features Claro Walnut, a fantastic tonewood. I spent of 20 years of my life in the Northern California town of Chico. It turns out that nut trees grow all around the farmlands surrounding Chico. One of these nuts is walnut, so Claro Walnut could be found in abundance when I lived there. Many years ago I bought a pallet of this wood that was originally supposed to be blanks for Winchester Rifles. Having been rejected by them for various small flaws for their products, I eventually wound up with it, and have made several Traveler Mandolins from it over the years. It turns out to be one of my favorite tonewoods!

Notice, too, that this mandolin includes a radiused fretboard. That, coupled with our Pro Style Set-Up insures that this mandolin will be very easy to play. People are often surprised at how loud they are too.
I think it is human nature to look at a mandolin of this style and think it probably won't have much to offer in the volume department. That is not the case with the intrepid Traveler! Nice sweet tone, even a very good chop. You may find yourself playing all kinds of music with your RedLine Traveler Mandolin!
